The Beamline and the Team

FemtoMAX is an ultrafast beamline at the Short Pulse Facility (SPF) at MAX IV, utilizing time-resolved X-ray techniques on the femtosecond scale to enable studies of material structural dynamics. You will join a team of researchers and research engineers working to develop the beamline's capacity and performance; the beamline is currently in the commissioning phase. We are looking for highly motivated researchers who can complement our team.

Do you want to work at one of the world's brightest light sources?

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing user support.
  • Maintaining the laser systems and laser diagnostics at FemtoMAX.
  • Developing the beamline's THz capacity and performance.
  • Developing tools for laser timing measurements.
  • Contributing to research, knowledge dissemination, and educational activities at FemtoMAX.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of work and safety routines.
  • Participating in a research team conducting experiments using femtosecond time-resolved beamline techniques.
  • Supporting the beamline's information and collaboration programs.

To succeed in this role, you must have the following qualifications:

  • A PhD in a relevant field (physics, chemistry, materials science).
  • At least 5 years of experience conducting experiments with ultrafast laser pump/hard X-ray probe at large-scale synchrotron facilities.
  • At least 5 years of experience with data analysis using Matlab and/or Python.
  • Knowledge in nonlinear optics, THz generation, THz characterization, and laser beam diagnostics.
  • Experience with laser timing measurement tools (cross-correlator, streak camera).
  • Experience conducting studies with THz pump and X-ray probes.
  • Knowledge of design and/or simulation software: Solidworks, Comsol.
  • You contribute to creating an inclusive and respectful work environment.
  • Excellent command of English (both written and spoken).

The following are considered meritorious:
